Amid the rising number of crimes committed by perpetrators riding tandem on motorcycles in Zamboanga City, District 2 Congressman Erbie A.Fabian expressed strong confidence that the local police would soon become competent in preventing and countering such criminal activities.

Speaking during  the graduation ceremonies yesterday of the Motorcycle Anti-Street Crime Operatives training in Camp Abendan, Mercedes, Fabian lauded the training as timely to combat crimes committed by motorcycle riding perpetrators.

Some 50 motorcycle riding cops whose task is to run after motorcycle riding gunmen completed the 45-day training at the headquarters of the Regional Public Safety Battalion under the MASCO Course Program, which is an initiative of Police Regional Office-9 Director Chief Supt. Napoleon Estilles.

“We should not merely categorize these crimes as isolated cases but instead recognize that there is an urgent need to intensify our drive against these vicious offenses.  I am thankful that PRO-9 has deployed more MASCO personnel to strengthen its fight against crimes committed by suspects riding in tandem aboard motor bikes,” Fabian said in his message.

“Making the city safe and secure by way of restoring peace and order, fighting lawless elements, and suppress criminality in all forms, as well as strict implementation of the gun ban are the priorities which need to be given attention by the local police,” the solon stressed.

“You play a vital role in the maintenance of law and order in our society. And most importantly, you are a source of moral strength, confidence and happiness to all individuals who seek to live a good life in society,” Fabian added.

MASCO training course is now on its 2nd batch in the Police Regional Office Training Center, wherein those riding tandem policemen are getting effective lessons in deterring crime incidents here in the city.
