The police station chief of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay and his men escaped death or injury after the three pumpboats they were riding capsized while conducting seaborne patrol last Thursday afternoon.

A sketchy police report disclosed that Chief Insp. Ariel Huesca personally led his men on a seaborne patrol around 2 p.m. in the area of responsibility of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay during which they encountered big waves.

The operators of the three pumpboats lost control when big waves met them causing their seacraft to capsize.

Huesca and his men stayed afloat in the water before they were rescued by personnel of the Philippine Navy, Coast Guard and other government agencies.
No one was reported injured during the sea mishap.

Huesca and his men regularly conduct seaborne patrols in their AOR to prevent criminalities and to check on pirates and other lawless groups.

Some of the rescued policemen were sent to the hospital for check-up as a standard operating procedure. — Dan Toribio Jr.
