Police Regional Office-9 Director Chief Supt. Napoleon Estilles yesterday led the opening of the 10-day Specialized Course for Women and Children Protection Desk officers in Camp Abendan in Mercedes.

The short course is intended to enhance the capability of women investigators in handling cases against individuals who committed crimes against women and children.

In the 10-day program, women investigators will be taught all the provisions under Republic Act 9262 otherwise known as the protection of women and children against violence.

Basic and actual investigation will also be a part of the lesson during the program.

Estilles said that a total of 50 women investigators from the provinces and cities are currently attended the said course.

Estilles added that investigators will also be taught on the confidentiality wherein the identities of victims should be withheld as provided for under the said law.

The course teaches the investigators not to mention the names of the involved parties in the blotter report.
