“I will give back to the people of Zamboanga City and Mindanao as whole for their support to my father.”

Rep. JV Ejercito Estrada (San Juan) made this pledge if he will come out victorious in the Senate race in next year’s mid-term election.

The young Estrada, who is here in Zamboanga City as guest in the convention of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL), was referring to the support his father, former president Erap Estrada, got in Mindanao in the last presidential election. The former actor turned politician got more votes than the winner,  President Noynoy Aquino, in Mindanao

Rep. Estrada said he wishes to return the favor to Mindanao for its trust given to his father. He is running for a senate seat under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).

Estrada said his rating in surveys is consistent which made him decide to join the senate race.

He admitted that candidates of the other coalition (Liberal Party, Nacionalista Party and National People’s Coalition,) have big advantages because of the administration machineries.    However, the support of the so-called “Big 3” to UNA candidates will level off the competition, according to Estrada.

He was referring to Vice President Jejomar Binay, former president Erap Estrada and Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile.

Estrada said he intends to share to other LGUs in the country the success story of San Juan in Metro Manila, where he served as mayor for three terms.

“I want to continue the advocacies of my father (Erap) for Mindanao. He loves Mindanao and he  wanted to make Mindanao the food basket of Asia,” Estrada told newmen in press meeting yesterday.
