A habal-habal driver was shot dead by one of his two passengers, who took his motorcycle and earnings in the interior of Sitio Asinan, Boalan yesterday morning.

Police identified the fatality as Guillerdo Emorecha, 28, married, a security guard and part time habal-habal driver and resident of Motorpool, Pasonanca.

Initial police investigation disclosed that a witness saw Emorecha bringing two male passengers at Sitio Asinan around 5:30 a.m. When they reached a secluded area, the motorcycle stopped and one of the two passengers pulled out a handgun and shot the driver at close range.

When Emorecha slumped on the ground, one of the men  took his wallet containing his earnings while his cohort took the motorcycle. They sped towards Mercedes.

It was learned that while they were fleeing on a very high speed, the killers almost bumped a four-wheel vehicle near the highway in Boalan.

Emorecha’s wife told the police that her husband woke up at 1 a.m. yesterday to earn extra income as habal-habal driver. He proceeded to the Guiwan bus terminal were he usually pick up passengers. At day time, Emorecha worked as security guard at the Department of Agrarian Reform office.

The body was brought to the Villa Funeral Parlor for post mortem examination. – Dan Toribio Jr.
