Visiting Zamboanga after 12 years, San Juan City Lone Representative Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito the other day said the city has progressed a lot with new infrastructures and business establishments and has become bustling and booming city.

“There are a lot of new establishments, new buildings and new hotels. It is so nice to see that Zamboanga City now is very progressive and it’s a bustling and a booming city, it’s nice to be back”, the congressman said Thursday after a courtesy call on Mayor Celso Lobregat in City Hall.

The San Juan solon was in the city to keynote the closing program of the 3rd National Assembly and Board of Directors meeting Thursday night.

“This is maybe my fourth or fifth time but the last time was 12 years ago”, Ejercito, son of former President Joseph Estrada said. “I used to come here in the ‘90s when I was national president of the Jaycees and during the campaign of my father”.

Zamboanga City, he stressed has always been a colorful place with rich culture and history. “That is why I always enjoy coming here not only for the beautiful sights and good food but of course the warm and friendly people”.

The San Juan solon paid a courtesy visit on Mayor Lobregat, whom he considers a good friend way back the time of the late Mayor Maria Clara “Caling” Lobregat. “Mayor Lobregat is a good friend and the late Tita Caling was a good friend of my father, it’s just but proper that I pay a courtesy visit on an old friend.”

Ejercito expressed confidence that Zamboanga City will continue to progress under the abled leadership of Mayor Lobregat. — Sheila Covarrubias
