Policemen under City Police Director Sr. Supt. James Mejia arrested three suspected holduppers who victimized two women along Villalobos St. corner Vicente Alvarez St. last Sunday night.

Mejia identified those arrested as Rodel Luya, Monsalman Posadas and Dexter Padilla, all residents of Sta. Catalina.

Another suspect Michael Labbay of Lower Calarian remains at large. He is the subject of police manhunt.

In a report to Mejia, Sr. Insp. Arlan Delumpines, chief of the Investigation Section, disclosed that Karen Espiritu, 19, of Divisoria was walking along Vicente Alvarez St. corner Villalobos St.  around 7 p.m. when four men armed with a handgun forcibly took her money amounting to P1,700 then fled towards Sta. Barbara. While they were fleeing, they met along the way Sherhida Lutian, 21, of Sta. Barbara, at Legionaire St. near the Land Transportation Office. They also poked a gun on her and took her Nokia cell phone, then continue running.

Delumpines said Lutian sought the assistance of policemen assigned at the Sta. Barbara Community Police Action center. Policemen went on a hot pursuit operation that resulted in the arrest of the three. Labbay managed to escape during the follow-up operation.

Delumpines and his men conducted more follow-up operations in Lower Calarian where Labbay was reportedly hiding but he was nowjere to be found.
At the police station, the victims positively identified the trio as the persons who held them up. — Dan Toribio Jr.
