A fishing boat crewman was shot dead by a boat captain in Baliwasan Seaside last Monday night.

The suspect was arrested during a follow-up operation.

A police report identified the victim as Ronald Calimpong, 27, married, of Baliwasan Chico and was a crewmember of M/V Bocana.

He was shot by Trephone Tabura, 26, married, boat captain of M/V Al Saima.

Investigation disclosed that Calimpong, Tabura and Larry Patrimonio have engaged in an argument, during which Tabura pulled out a handgun and shot Calimpong several times.

Calimpong fell on the water and died.

City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin Deocampo disclosed that Tabura was arrested during a follow-up operation.

Recovered from Tabura’s possession was a .45 caliber pistol with one magazine loaded with five rounds of ammunition, one spent shell, a wallet and an XRM Honda motorcycle.

Calimpong's body was brought to the Villa Funeral Parlor for post mortem examination while the Tabura was detained at the police station pending the filing of charges against him in court. -- Dan Toribio Jr.
