Beng organizes lecture on parenting PDF Print E-mail

House Deputy Speaker and District I Rep.  Beng Climaco pursues her advocacy on the promotion and protection of family welfare and children’s rights, as she recently organized a lecture activity dubbed “Disciplining with Love”.

Held in partnership with the Child Abuse Prevention and Intervention Network (CAPIN), the lecture was conducted by Maribel Sison-Dionisio, a marriage and family counsellor with 21 years experience and one of the founders and owner of the Love Institute in Manila.

Dionisio also authored books that tackle family life, relationships and experiences of teen-agers.

Some 100 social workers, day care teachers, foster care families and those who take case of abused children attended the lecture. The activity focused on how effective disciplining and also parenting can be done while preserving the dignity of the child.

“This among others, are one of those projects that we do to advocate the observance of children’s rights. They are our future leaders and so we do everything possible that their growing years will only speak well of how they are raised and treated,” the lady solon stressed.

Cong. Climaco expressed appreciation to CAPIN for the organization’s readiness to help make the city abuse-free.

The lecture activity was held at the City Social Welfare and Development Office Conference Room in Pettit Barracks last September 19.

Dionisio was also tapped as resource speaker in another activity initiated by the PHILAM Insurance Company in the city recently. — Marvin Segura
