Sibugay gov lauds successful rescue of Chinese national PDF Print E-mail

Zamboanga Sibugay Governor Rommel Jalosjos on Friday commended the police and military for the successful rescue of Chinese national Lin Yuan Kai and the capture of an Abu Sayyaf training camp in Barangay Calabasa, Curuan  District last Thursday.

Lin yuan Kai was rescued after 108 days in captivity. His companion James Luo was earlier freed by the kidnappers in Barangay Arena Blanco last August 26, 2012 after 83 days in captivity.

Luo and Yuan Kai were kidnapped on  June 4, 2012 in their rented house in Barangay Poblacion, Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

During the rescue operation for Yuan Kai, five kidnappers were killed in a an hour-long gunbattle that broke out after government security forces stormed the Abu Sayyaf lair.

One of those slain was a woman identified as Sitti Raja Salvin. The other fatalities were Termije Ajijul, Abu Ulm, Arab-Arab and Banah-Banah. Captured was Sambri Aslon Kamlon alias Abu Ziad. He was placed under the custody of the Philippine Center on Transnational Crime Western Mindanao Field Office.
Recovered at the Abu Sayyaf camp were five high-powered firearms  — M4 rifle, M14 rifle, two M16 rifles, one Carbine rifle, several rounds of ammunition, backpacks and  documents.

The joint rescue operation was carried out by the Anti- Terrorism Task  Force Sanglahi and was authorized by Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa Jr. who chairs the Anti-Terrorism Council (ATC).  Government operatives are from the Philippine Center on Transnational Crimes( PCTC WMFO ), 84th Special Action  Company of the PNP Special Action Force, Anti-kidnapping Group, Police Regional  Intelligence Unit 9 , Zamboanga City Police Office, Naval  Intelligence Security Group- Western Mindanao, 3rd Explosive and Ordnance Disposal Unit of the Philippine Army and the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission ( PAOCC ).

Undersecretary Felizardo M.  Serapio Jr. of the Law Enforcement Security Integrated Office (LESIO ) said the latest raid against the terror group “exemlpifies the government’s” unwavering commitment to crush the Abu Sayyaf and put and end to their kidnapping and terror activities.
