Guingona donates canned goods for flood victims PDF Print E-mail

Benjamin “BG” Guingona IV and his uncle, Councilor Benjamin “ Nonong “ Guingona, turned over canned goods yesterday afternoon to City Social Welfare and Development Department Head Francisco “Kit” Barredo at his office for the flasfloods victims in the city.

BG Guingona called on barangay officials to tell their constituents to plant more trees in both highland and plains for the prevention of flashfloods in the future.

He urged the people to stop cutting  trees because  trees are the protector of the environment against flashfloods.

Guingona also advised the people to stop throwing garbages in the drainage system of the city to avoid clogging which is one of the causes of street flooding.

He also called on the Department of Environment and Natural  Resources to plant more trees in vacant land areas in the mountains in the city and in the region.

BG Guingona is a grandchild of former Vice Presdient Teofisto Guingona and a nephew of Sen. TG Guingona Jr. and Councilor Benjamin “Nonong” Guingona.
Barredo thanked Guingona for sharing goods for the the victims of flashfloods in the city.

He said the two-day non-stop rains have caused flashfloods in the different barangays in the city and have displaced many families. Most affected by the flashfloods are children and senior citizens. — Allen Abastillas
