House Deputy Speaker and District 1 Representative Beng Climaco has initiated the conduct of  a security caravan intended to prepare west coast barangays to be equipped on the technical know-how and standard operating procedures in responding to emergencies.

The security caravan was launched September 25 and culminated yesterday, Sept. 26 at the Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial High School. It will continue until October covering all 37 barangays in District I.

Partnering with the congresswoman in the conduct of the security caravan are the Philippine National Police, Office of the Civil Defense, National Telecommunications Commission, Philippine National Red Cross and Task Force Zamboanga.

The Security Caravan is the 2nd leg of implementation where barangays are now given communication units to swiftly carry out their recues and other emergency operations, according to Cong. Climaco.

She said once again, this complements the provision of the L300 vehicles in the 1st district under the Barangay Emergency Network Group.

“We continue to empower barangays in District 1 because we believe that we are able to immediately address pressing concerns with their assistance and cooperation”, the lady solon added. — Marvin Segura
