Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM)  OIC Governor Mujiv Hataman and Presidential Adviser on Political Affairs Undersecretary Raffy Albert yesterday led the Pagduwaa or thanksgiving for unity, peace and progress and at the same time the proclamation of the Liberal Party candidates in Basilan for the 2013 election.

Majority of the elective officials — from Governor Jum Akbar down to the last councilors of the different towns —  were among those present during yesterday’s historical affair making Basilan an LP country in the ARMM.

Yesterday’s affair was another breakthrough as far as the political history of the province where powerful leaders coming from the different political parties have agreed to end all their grievances and political misunderstandings with the principal aim of having a peaceful Basilan, Usec Albert said in his message before thousands of LP leaders and supporters.

“Because of this undertaking, we are pretty sure that Basilan would no longer be in the list of areas with great concern during election time. For sure, President Aquino would be very happy with this development,” Albert said.

He stressed that the joint forces of the Hataman’s political group and that of the powerful Akbar would surely bring development in Basilan.

“President Aquino really wants to eliminate the political violence in ARMM. With the leadership of Hataman and the support being extended by the different
local government units, everything is possible,” Albert said.

As part of its agreement, the group of Hataman would not put up candidates who will fight against the Akbar in any elective positions and  in the same manner, the Akbar’s are also expected to observe the same.

If all these things will be realized, Gov. Akbar will seek her last term unopposed as well as Congressman Jim Hataman.

For unity’s sake, last term Vice Governor Al-Rasheed Sakalahul  has decided not to run for a higher position and instead has thrown his support to the candidacy of Gov. Akbar and Congressman Hataman.

In his message, ARMM OIC governor Mujiv Hataman thanked some potential leaders like former congressman Candu Muarip and Vice Governor Sakalahul for making supreme sacrifices to support his objective for a better Basilan. — Jimmy Villaflores
