Tomorrow, October 5, Lantaka Hotel opens its doors to viewers and art lovers of the exhibit entitled DIVIDED BY WATER. It is a momentous event that reunites numerous Zamboanga City artists: those whose works have weathered the test of time and those whose works are beginning to excite; those who work in traditional media and those who deal with the avant-garde; and those who have gone beyond its borders and those who have stayed.

The cast of exhibitors reads like a who’s who of the regional art scene, containing both new and familiar faces: Edwin Jumalon, Saudi Ahmad, Lorna Fernandez, Rorie Tan Aradanas, Jana Jumalon-Alano, Bong Panganiban, Chester Mato, Raul Bendanillo, Isidro Floreta, Amihan Jumalon, and Is Jumalon.

DIVIDED BY WATER is not only an exhibit but also a get-together of artists, some who may have been away from la ciudad Latina de Asia. The title of the exhibit hints at the geographical distances that have keptthe group of artists apart. At times what may separate them is not physical distance, but the winds of time, scattering their sails. But though they’ve landed on different shores, what has divided them is also what holds them together – the restless tides of Art.

This is an invitation to all artists and art lovers to celebrate the gathering of talents. DIVIDED BY WATER opens at 530 PM, October 5 at the Lantaka Hotel Lobby. The exhibit runs until October 19, 2012.
