The city government on October 1 started accepting applications for renewal of business permits for the year 2013.

Mayor Celso Lobregat has appealed to all businessmen operating in the city to process applications for permits renewal the earliest possible time to avoid the rush and the payment of penalties based on existing laws.

Under the law, January 20, 2013 is the deadline set for the payment of business taxes. Late payments will mean a surcharge of 25 percent and 2 percent additional penalty for every month of delay.

“The management of the different business establishments in this city are advised to process their applications early so as to avoid the rush and comply with the January 20, 2012 deadline,” the mayor appealed.

Business permit renewal applicants are also advised to bring the original business permit for the year 2012 as basis for the renewal.

Business applications are to be secured at the Permits and Licensing Division, located at the ground floor of City Hall.

Other procedures preparatory to the renewal of business permits such as the inspection of establishments and the clearances from the City Health Office and other agencies have started a few months before based on an existing executive order issued by Lobregat. —Sheila Covarrubias
