District 2 Rep. and mayoralty bet Erbie A. Fabian led his team backed by “Fuerza Zamboanga” in filing their certificates of candidcacy  at the Commission on Elections Office in RT Lim Boulevard yesterday morning, the last day for filing of COCs before the Comelec for the forthcoming May 2013 polls in festive mood, close camaraderie and upbeat spirits.

Fabian led the group, borne out of an alliance of independent candidates submitting their respective COCs before officials of the Comelec making them official candidates for their respective posts being aspired for in the May 13 mid-term elections.

The lean and compact team is made up of professionals, academicians, media practitioners, a transport organization leader, youth, barangay representation, former police officers and former city government officials all committed to the 10-point agenda advocated by Cong. Fabian, their standard bearer.

Yesterday’s filing was precipitated by a prayerful gathering of the team at the Shrine of the Lady of the Pillar, where candidates offered prayers and lighted candles to set off their journey to the May polls.

The group then proceeded to the Comelec Office at the Enriquez Sports Complex followed by a pictorial at the landmark Tree house in Pasonanca then conducted an introductory press conference where all of the 13 candidates under Fuerza were formally presented to the media and the general public.
It was later followed by a lunch tendered by Fuerza Zamboanga officials for all the candidates, their supporters and staff.

The official candidates under the “Fuerza Zamboanga” umbrella are Cong. Erbie A. Fabian for mayor, former city councilor Atty. Luis Climaco as vice mayor, Mrs. Lilia Macrohon-Nuno as congress bet for the 2nd district and for councilors in Disrtrict I, the Fuerza bets are incumbent Councilor Atty. Mel Sadain, former Ayala Police Chief Supt. Hado Edding, former Commisioner and newspaper columnist Mike Apostol, and former Aviation Security Deputy Chief Supt. Joselito Bernardo and for District II the Fuera candidates are former City councilor and broadcaster Gerry Acuna, noted surgeon Dr. Antonio ‘Bondying’ Feliciano, Feltranz President and former Water District  Executive Ed Mingala, retired govt. broadcaster Roseller Enriquez, retired Ateneo professor Dr. Carlito Depositario and Cabaluay Barangay Chairman Mako Apolinario.

Cong. Fabian said while the lineup under the Fuerza Umbrella is not complete, they expect to adopt independent guest candidates into the ticket and carry them into their sorties come the campaign period next year.

Fabian said he believes in the team, in the ideals , goals and aspirations of its members and is optimistic about their chances come May.

It is a team with spirit, close knit and dedicated to the service of the city of Zamboanga and its people.
