Police Regional Office-9 Director Chief Supt. Elpidio M. De Asis Jr. has commended policemen from the different stations in the region for a job well done in securing the New Year's Eve celebration.

Reports reaching PRO-9 headquarters here showed  that the whole region was very peaceful when its people welcomed 2011 last Friday.

De Asis said that although there were some isolated cases that are beyond human control, everything was manageable and addressed well by police enforcers from the different police stations tasked to coordinate harmoniously with the military and local government units to ensure the celebration is safe and  successful.

PRO-9 had put up two assignment shifts for policemen to maximize their duties during the holiday season and at the same time give them opportunity to celebrate  with their respective families.

Meanwhile, De Asis is scheduled to attend the traditional New Year's call on Philippine National Police Chief Dir. Gen. Raul Bacalzo in Camp Crame on January 5. It will be attended by police regional directors, national support units and diretorial staff of the PNP Chief. Thereafter, De Asis will lead the commemoration of the death anniversary of the late Brig. Gen. Eduardo Batalla and Col. Romeo Abendan on January 7 with a wreath laying program. --Allen Abastillas
