LTO to implement new plate standardization program next year PDF Print E-mail

The Land Transportation Office-9 will push through the LTO Motorvehicle License New Plate Standardization Program next year.

LTO-9 Director  Aminola P.  Abaton disclosed that all regional offices nationwide are required to conduct public consultations on the matter in their respective areas of jurisdiction.

“We are required by the (LTO) central office to hold public consultations. Three consultations per region,” Abaton said.

Here in Zamboanga Peninsula,  the schedule of public consultations will be on October 17, 2012 at the Top Plaza Hotel in Dipolog City, October 18 at Alindahaw Hotel in Pagadian City and October 19 at the Marcian Garden Hotel  in Zamboanga City.

According to Abaton, the new features of the new plate number is good because it has a security code that can not be copied. It is durable and has a super imposed colors. Once it  is installed in a motorvehicle, it can not be transferred to another motorvehicle because it will be broken if removed from the original motorvehicle. It has a one single design and it is uniformed.

The purpose of the new design plate number is to stop the illegal transfer of plate number and to preventanti-carnapping activities.

“Our target people to attend are 50 to 70 persons. We will invite people from the transportation group, business group, academe, non- government units, civil society, city traffic office, Highway Patrol Group and others,” Abaton said.

Meanwhile, Abaton disclosed that LTO -9 is the first LTO regional office to convene the Law Enforcement Road Safety Summit 201102020  as directed by the Department of Transportation and Communication and mandated by the United Nations. The venue of the summit will be in Zamboanga City on October 24-26,2012. It will be graced by Usec.Virgie P. Torres and other top personalities.

LTO-9, under the leadership of Abaton, has been awarded by the LTO Central Office as the only regional office that has introduced many innovations and ingenuity.

LTO-9 is also the only regional office that has created a website for the public and clients to view and get some  information about the LTO programsand activities. It is also the first to conduct road summit program, first to produce an Electronic Queueing System for the information of clients and applicants on the procedure to apply, first to install CCTV in  its district offices and first to create a Regional Road Safety Traning Center for  Excellence. — Allen Abastillas
