Violence erupted in Lower Calarian after two men were shot dead by in Stanvac yesterday afternoon.

The victims remained unidentified as of press time as the police recovered no document or card from their possesion that would give their identities.

Sr. Insp. Arlan Delumpines, chief of the Investigation Section, disclosed that the victims sustained multiple bullet wounds in the head and body. They died on the spot.

Delumpines said that the two men were aboard a pedicab that was negotiating the interior of Stanvac coming from Lower Calarian around 2 p.m. when gunmen aboard a motorcycle chased them.

Near a vacant lot, the backrider of the motorcycle opened fire on the man seated in the passenger cab. Terrified, the pedicab driver jumped and ran,  but he was chased by the gunman and was cornered beside a concrete fence where he was shot several times.

The gunmen sped away aboard their motorcycle immediately after the shooting.

Delumpines said they have recovered several spent shells and slugs of .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.

Investigators also retrieved a pair of eyeglasses, a cell phone and a fan knife from the possession of the victim who was killed inside the passenger cab.
Delumpines said they were still looking into several angles including drugs behind the killing.

The bodies were brought to the Villa Funeral Parlor for post mortem examinations.

Meanwhile, Marlon candido y Laping, 33, married, of Espinosa Drive, Tumaga was shot and wounded by Reynaldo Juaton y Banua, married of Ayala, near the vicinity of a cockpit in Tumaga last Thursday night.

Candido sustained a bullet wound in the right lower armpit and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Juaton was arrested by policemen after the incident and was detained at the Sta. Maria Police Station.

Initial investigation showed that Candido and Juaton had figured in a heated argument regarding a debt of the former. Amid their argument, Juaton pulled out a .45 caliber pistol and shot Candido.

Police confiscated the gun from the possession of Juaton during his arrest. – Dan Toribio Jr.
