District 1 congressional aspirant Crisanto “Monsi” dela Cruz said yesterday the fight will continue despite the adverse decision of the Regional Trial Court (RTC)  on the case of United Nationalists Alliance (UNA)  standard bearer former Zamboanga del Norte Cong.  Romeo “Nonong” Jalosjos junking the  latter’s appeal to be included in voter’s list.

“Continue the fight! I have complete trust and loyalty towards Manong Nonong. I never abandon friends like Manong! He, to me is an inspiration!” said Monsi,

UNA, a coalition formed by Vice President Jejomar Binay’s Partido Demokratikong Pilipino-Laban (PDP-Laban) and former President Joseph Estrada’s Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP), is chaired here by Jalosjos.

In the final analysis, Monsi said he is confident that justice would prevail and that he shall not waiver in his resolve to bring positive change and hope to the dear people and the city.

“Beyond the cross, I shall look forward towards a joyful resurrection!” he stressed. “By now, the people of Zamboanga know the character and sincerity of my heart and sweat of my hard labor for the young people and poor, for our City and the business community.”

He continued:”Not even my defeat stopped me from doing what was good for our people and city. With no vengeance from my heart in spite of all the mud thrown at me, I stood up with dignity and reached out to everyone, even to my detractors.”

According to Monsi, he may not have the resources to buy votes, nor the power and influence of government resources to dispense and use, but God has given him the heart and soul, to share whatever he has throughout his lifetime in the service of the people, institutions of learning, scholarships, regular medical outreach, livelihood for the poor, voluntary lots shared to the government, deserving institutions and most of all, lots for many poor people and landless, now with homes of their own.

Monsi admitted that it would be a difficult political battle with him as the underdog, but he is willing and ready “to go through the rigors of many difficulties if only, to be able to serve our people with dignity.”

Hundreds who have never voted for him, he said,  are now working hard to make his victory a reality and great success.

“This early, I pray to the Almighty God to give me courage, humility and strength to be able to carry my responsibility with honor and dignity. I shall strive to dedicate my entire life in the service of our dear City and people of Zamboanga. God bless us all, even my detractors with peace and love in our hearts! I cannot speak for the brother of our standard bearer for Mayor: Manong Nonong. I shall follow some ethical standards set forth. This is what I can say with all sincerity: despite the adverse decision of the RTC on the case of Manong: tuloy ang laban. No retreat no surrender. He is prepared for the real battle. All contingencies are in place. We’re going to continue to stand up for Manong Nonong”

Meanwhile, one of the thousands of supporters of Monsi believes that 2013 will be his lucky year and he will surely win considering that many businessmen are tired of the present City Mayor due to the high taxes, lack of real business incentives, billions kept in the bank with selected few enjoying its benefits with many jobless and poor people in the City.

“Besides people are tired of his arrogance of power, with crimes and killing high and right in the heart of the City; many people who voted for him are disgusted and frustrated of him and his brother running for congress as well; look at Zamboanga City: PAL flight already cancelled, City very dirty and backward compared to other Cities here in Mindanao,” the source said.

He called on all Zamboangueños: “It is time to change! This time, you are already organized this early with a lot of volunteers working for free, aside from your scholars who are now professionals. Many people, even at City Hall would not support for him and his brother, that I am very sure!”
