Baby girl dies, 27 hurt in ZN road accident PDF Print E-mail

A six-month-old baby girl died and 27 others were injured in a road mishap in Barangay Camul, Tampilisan, Zamboanga del Norte last Sunday morning.

A police report disclosed that a mini dump truck with plate number SGD 215 of Mabuhay municipality driven by Seferino Amonat, 53, loaded with 28 passengers including baby Mayet Bugsangit, was on its way to a nearby town for a marriage proposal by one of the passengers when the accident took place.

Initial investigation disclosed that the truck was running on a high speed and Amonat lost control of the steering wheel sending the vehicle to its side.

The baby girl was being carried by her mother when the accident took place and she was pinned down  inside the truck resulting to her death.

Police said the infant was rushed to the hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.

The 27 other passengers including the man who was about to propose marriage to his fiancé sustained injuries in the body and were confined in the hospital.
