A fire broke out at a downtown building where an FM radio station and the office of the Zamboanga City Chamber Commerce and Industry Foundation Inc. (ZCCIFI) are located along Tomas Claudio St. last Wednesday night.

Occupants of the Jose Go Huilo building noticed around 9 p.m. thick smokes in the premises which they immediately reported to the Bureau of Fire Protection.

After a few seconds, firefighters from the Central Fire Station and other fire sub-stations arrived and put the fire under control.

An FM radio station located at the upper floor of the building was partially affected. Likewise with the ZCCFI.

Occupants of the building , mostly staying in the different units, were safely moved out of the building while firefighters were fighting the blaze.

Some of the occupants complained of short breath after inhaling thick smokes while they were trying to go out of the building.
Most of the occupants are foreigners engaging in business in the city.

Fire investigators were still working on the case. Faulty electrical wiring is one of the probable causes of the fire. – Dan Toribio Jr.
