The Philippine Ports Authority, Port Management Office (PMO) of Zamboanga faces a new chapter in its operations with a new Port Manager in the person of Engr. Liberto C. Dela Rosa.

The turnover ceremony was held at the PPA-Zamboanga Conference Room on October 17, 2012, with guests from the port community attending the event. Dela Rosa assumed his post on said date, while outgoing Port Manager Leonilo E. Miole assumed his new assignment October 19 at PMO-Davao.

Dela Rosa is a Mindanaoan, having been born and raised in Cotabato City. Being so, he understands the intricacy of Mindanaoan history and culture, and commits to the task of developing a highly efficient port that will eventually result in the improvement of the economy in the city and the region. Dela Rosa’s expertise in port management comes with scholastic excellence and seasoned experience. His Civil Engineering degree, Masters in Business Administration degree and Master’s Degree in Mathematics is coupled with valuable experience in being a Division Manager for 17 years and a Port Manager for seven years.

Having handled six port management offices, Dela Rosa acknowledges the fact that PMO-Zamboanga is one of the most dynamic PMOs in the country. Boasting of voluminous passenger and cargo traffic, Baseport Zamboanga is one of the 10 ports being developed by the Philippine Ports Authority to meet international standards by Year 2013. Various engineering projects implemented in the PMO speak well for this goal, as infrastructure projects have reached over P400 million in costs this year alone. Dela Rosa asserts that security and development are key goals in managing the port, and he assures the port community, including the partner agencies and stakeholders, that there is no other direction to go but up, no other goal to achieve but progress.
