Mayor Celso Lobregat has completed the distribution of 4x4 pick-up vehicles to the city’s 90 mainland barangays, 19 of which received their vehicles during simple turnover rites at City Hall grounds yesterday morning.

The last to receive the vehicles for Community, Environment, Livelihood, Security and Order (C.E.L.S.O.) were barangays Sangali, Dita, Kasanyangan, Labuan, Limaong, Limpapa, Lubigan, Mariki, Muti, Pamucutan, Panubigan, Recodo, Rio Hondo, San Jose Cawa-Cawa, Sinunuc, Sta. Barbara, Taguiti, Zone I and Zone 4.

In his message, Lobregat urged the chairpersons of the recipient-barangays to take care of the 4x4 vehicles and use them in the service of their community, for protection of the environment, promotion of livelihood, security and order.

Under the program, all 90 mainland barangays of the city will receive the pick-up vehicles, while the eight island barangays will receive a multicab and a pumpboat each in a bid to hasten mobility and ultimately accelerate public service for the Community, Environment, Livelihood, Security and Order in the barangays.

Each 4x4 vehicle costs the city government P997,500 while the multicab and pumpboat cost P290,000 and P150,000 each, respectively. Funds for the purchase of the transportation facilities are taken from the 2011 and 2012 budgets of the city.

Present during yesterday’s turnover rites were Councilors Rudy Lim and Nonong Guingona together with City Hall Chief Executive Assistant Mario Roca and the officials of the barangays concerned. — Vic Larato
