CDO’s income on trade, commerce second highest in the Philippines PDF Print E-mail

Department of Tourism-10 Regional Director Catalino “ Butch” E. Chan III told Zamboanga City newsmen on tour in Cagayan de Oro City Tuesday that the city’s income on trade and commerce  is the second highest in the country as declared by the Philippine  Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Chan said that Region 10 is the No.1 supplier of fresh pineapples and canned pineapples in the world market coming from Del Monte Philippines whose plantation covers 26,000 hectares.

Del  Monte Philippines also produces one of the best tender beef in the country.

CDO is the home of many factories producing popular products like Marca Leon corn starch, Minola cooking oil, Nestle products, San Miguel production, agricultural products and many others.

“As a getaway of Northern Mindanao, we are also near Davao City. CDO has 27 daily  flights that connect to other cities in the country and we have 14 flights daily for Manila,” Chan revealed.

On tourism aspect, Chan explained that DOT-10 and the local governments units in the region  always educate people to become hospitable and friendly to local, national and foreign tourists.

Chan lauded the private sector for helping educate people on cleanliness of the city.

”We teach our transportation group to be hospitable, respectable and honest to our visitors coming here in our city,” Chan said. — Allen Abastillas
