ZTZ guard charged for firing carbine; woman hit by bullet PDF Print E-mail

The Tetuan police station has forwarded to the city prosecutor office a case of illegal discharge of firearm and alarm scandal to against a security guard of the Zamboangueños for the Transformation of Zamboanga (ZTZ) of former Zamboanga del Norte Congressman Romeo Jalosjos located along Tetuan highway for firing a gun and hitting a woman last Thursday night.

A police report disclosed that Ricky Omas y Maghanoy was on duty at the ZTZ office around 11 p.m. when he reportedly responded to a robbery taking place in the vicinity.

Police said that Omas fired his carbine rifle as warning shot, but the bullet hit Maribel Adlaoan y Gomonit, a pharmacy employee who was together with co-employees aboard service vehicle on their way to Estrada St., Tetuan.

Adlaoan sustained a bullet wound in the right foot and was brought to a hospital for treatment while policemen of the Tetuan Police Station went to the scene and held Omas.

Confiscated from Omas was the carbine rifle. He was taken to the police station for further investigation.

Omas was later brought to the 9th PNP Crime Laboratory for paraffin test while the gun was submitted for ballistic examination.

On Friday, policemen took Omas to the City Prosecutor Office for inquest and recommended a case of illegal discharge of firearm and alarm scandal.

Adlaoan, on the other hand, executed an affidavit of desistance stating that she is not interested to file another criminal case against the security guard. – Dan Toribio Jr.
