Barely two days after he turned over the newly constructed barangay hall, fire station and an elderly center totaling P7.5 million in Labuan, Mayor Celso Lobregat yesterday afternoon unveiled another newly built barangay hall worth P4.3 million.

This time, the recipient of a new barangay hall is Cabatangan, a mountainside village of 8,670 people and 1,076 households as of 2007 census.

Joining Lobregat in Cabatangan were some members of the City Council, barangay officials and residents.

The new barangay hall costing the city government the amount of P4,289,900.00, brought to a total of P36.7 million worth of various infrastructure projects that Lobregat’s administration had implemented and completed in Barangay Cabatangan since 2007.

In 2007, the city government gave Cabatangan P4.8 million worth of projects that included the concreting a 289-lm road amounting to P4.2 million, improvement of farm-to-market road and repair  of irrigation structure costing P299,000 and P249,785.22, respectively. In 2008, the barangay had P1.7 million worth of various projects.

The year 2009 saw the biggest bulk of projects implemented in Cabatangan totaling P10.3 million, most of which were road network, drainage system, slope protection, farm-to-market road, repair of health center and construction of a two-storey six-classroom building in the amount of P6.6 million at Cabatangan Elementary School.

In 2010, Cabatangan had P4.3 million worth of projects mostly multi-purpose pavement, slope protection, farm-to-market road, repair of a school building, and construction of a waiting shed. Another P4.3 million projects were completed in the said hillside barangay.

Slope protection, road concreting, drainage system and multi-purpose pavements in the amount of P7 million are some of the ongoing projects in Cabatangan. — Vic Larato
