Police Regional Office-9 Director Chief Supt. Elpidio Z. De Asis Jr. has thanked Mayor Celso Lobregat  for giving the Zamboanga City Police Office under the leadership of Sr. Supt. Edwin Deocampo 66 armalite rifles and  a newly constructed Police Action Center in Upper Calarian.

Expected to grace the turnover ceremony of the rifles and the blessing of the Police Action Center on Monday are Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo and Philippine National Police Chief Dir. Gen. Raul Bacalzo.

De Asis said the 66 armalite rifles are an additional armament of the policemen for efficient law enforcement, peacekeeping and patrol for the safety and security of the community.

He stressed that the Police Action Center is also an additional asset of the police for their shelter and convenience in entertaining the populace in their needs and assistance or victims of lawlessness.

Meanwhile, De Asis presided yesterday the first command conference for this year held at Camp Abendan after the commemoration of the 22th death anniversary of Gen. Eduardo Batalla and Col. Romeo Abendan.

De Asis directed all provincial and city directors to always remain vigilant and alert to ensure the safety and security of each community in the region.

Top police commanders have directed their men to display good manners and right conduct at all times in enforcing the law or in the performance of their duties.

De Asis reiterated the directives of PNP Chief  Bacalzo that every policeman in the country must not involve in any wrong doings or illegality that would malign the name of the institution.

On the other hand, De Asis  also said that policemen under his command are working day and night to find and rescue three kidnap victims. --  Allen Abastillas
