The fatality was identified as Benhar Sali y Ajud, 38, married, of Campo Islam, Lower Calarian. He sustained multiple bullet wounds in the body and died on the spot.

Initial investigation disclosed that Sali was walking along J Johnston St.  near the Campo Islam bridge around 3:30 a.m. when two men aboard a motorcycle appeared and the backrider shot him repeatedly.
