Two fishermen who were reportedly missing while fishing off Curuan last Wednesday morning returned home safely after more than 24 hours at sea.

Rene Dejeto y Bersero and his relative Jomar Ocaris y Dejeto, both of Curuan, went fishing last Wednesday around 9 a.m. but failed to return home amid the bad weather condition.

The incident was reported to the Curuan Police Station and a search and rescue operation was carried out by concerned agencies.

The following day, the two were spotted along the shoreline of Vitali where they sought assistance from residents. They were fetched by policemen and brought to a safe place.

The duo told the police that while they were fishing, heavy rains fell and strong winds lashed the sea.  They were swept by strong waves to Vitali.

Dejeto and Ocaris were in good condition when they returned to their homes. – Dan Toribio Jr.
