Policemen recovered a bottle packed with explosive material in Sta. Cruz Island last Friday morning.

A sketchy police report disclosed that PO2 Ariel Perez and PO2 Julius Andrew Vega, both members of the Tourist Police Unit, were in Sta. Cruz around 9:30 a.m. when they spotted a long-neck bottle on the ground.

When they verified, they found out that the bottle was packed with ammonium nitrate and ready to use for blast fishing.

The two policemen retrieved the explosive and turned it over to the City Police Office’s Bomb Squad for proper disposition.

Police theorized that the bottle of explosive was left by its owner believed to be a blast fisherman after he sensing the presence of lawmen in the island.— Dan Toribio Jr.
