Jolo soon to have center for women, children building PDF Print E-mail

The Center for Women and Children building in Jolo, Sulu will soon inaugurated by Governor Sakur M. Tan.

Gov.Tan said the building  will be used for the activities of the women and children sectors in his province.

“It can be used for their activities like livelihood training program, seminars on development of skills on arts and any human development. Activities like short term courses, dialogue or events that promote family preservation, harmony and peace and sports development program. We need to preserve and protect the dignity of our women and children in our community,” Tan said.

The site where the building was erected is located at the side of the runway of the Jolo airport. It was the former location of the Sulu Provincial Jail which has been transferred at the back of the Provincial Capitol Hall building in Patikul.

Meanwhile, Tan said that he will focus on the development of the province and the preservation of the environment for the children’s future. 

“I have a program on Marine Enforcement Program that encourages the people to plant more mangrove propagules along the coastal areas of Sulu and islands and islets.
The program is implemented in partnership with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources- Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

“It is very important to preserve and protect the environment so that more fish will lay their eggs in a mangrove forests,” Tan said. — Allen Abastillas
