WMSU-CPD sponsors campaign on anti-child traffickingfor 12 brgys PDF Print E-mail

The Western Mindanao State University’s  Center for Peace and Development is sponsoring an “Advocacy Campaign on Anti-Child Trafficking”. 

The recipients of the campaign are 10 selected barangays of Zamboanga City, one barangay in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay and one barangay in Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte.

The campaign forum will be held in two separate venues.

For Zamboanga  Sibugay and Zamboanga del Norte,  it will be held in Ricomar Hotel in  Ipil on December 15,2012. For Zamboanga City, the venue will be Astoria Hotel at 8:30 in the morning. The convenor is Marcelina G.  Carpizo under the office of  WMSU President Milabel E. Ho.

The advocacy consists of three modules:  Module 1 will focus on the issue of Child tracfficking. Its push and pull factors and its corresponding effects; Module 2 is all about  R.A 9208 otherwise known as the Anti-Human Trafficking Act of 2003 , profiling and victim identification and Module 3 will be the training of the community support group on detection, identification, referral and documentation.

Chief Insp. Alexander A. Lorenzo, Mindanao Field Officer, Philippine Center on Transnational Crime- Western Mindanao Camp Batalla, will be the guest lecturer on the  detection and identification of victims of human trafficking and other salient information which will help the 50 community volunteer support groups including their training against human trafficking on detection, identification, referral and documentation.

The project is under the Katilingban para sa Kalambuan, Inc. ( KKI ) in partnership with WMSU’s Center for Peace and Development. —  Allen Abastillas
