At least 18 kids aged 5 to 10 years old will compete for the title in the Best Dressed in Santa Claus costume competition, slated tonight at the La Vista del Mar beach resort in line with the Pascua na Zamboanga festival.

The competition starts at 6pm and will form part of the highlights of the opening of the Christmas Night Market, a yearly Christmas bazaar.

Following a pre-screening conducted by the City Tourism Division under the Office of the Mayor, the qualified participants and the school they represent are the Piolo Miguel Buhion, 10 years old of San Roque Elementary School; Kym Jonnar Baldovino, 10 years old and Arman Cibert Dabalos, 10 years old of Boalan Elementary School; Joshua Revil, 9 years old and Frances Mae West, 5 years old of Zamboanga Puericulture School; Bie Jey Cristobal, 9 years old, Aldous Aldwin Ramos, 9 years old, Clarisse Kaye Enriqiuez, 9, and Joella Irena Jose, 10 all of Lunzuran Elementary School; Justine Bryan Dinampo, 10 years old of Putik Central School; Gadiel Dominic Machutes, 5 years old and Nico Adrian Cuaresma, 9 years old of Ayala Central School; Lizen Araine Francisco, 9 years old, Elnes Dave Tio, 7 years old, Peter Anton Agustin, 8 years old, Felizsa Faith Dongon, 8 years old, Joe Mari Luna, 7 years old and Gail Raenella Castro, 8 years old—all of Tugbungan Elementary School.

The competition is guided according to the concept- 50%, projection/deportment-30%, props- 10% and impact-10% for a total of 100%. The color required for the Santa Claus costume is limited to red and white of personal design.

There will be various categories and winners in each category will receive cash prizes—P6,000 for the first prize; P5,000 for the second prize; P4,000 for the 3rd prize; P3,000 for the 4th prize and P2,000 for the 5th prize. Non-winners will receive a cash prize of P500 each.

The decision of the panel of judges will be final and no appeals or protests will be entertained. — Sheila Covarrubias
