The Bureau of Customs Zamboanga City District Office has increased its revenue collection target this year to P45 million from last year’s P40 million.

Customs District Collector Atty. Christopher  F.C Bolastig disclosed that he is not sure if his office will meet or surpass the target collection this year because there are only 15 days left before 2013.

“As of the moment my district office collection is only more than P 43 million.

According to Bolastig, importation in his district is minimal because of lack of facilities to serve domestic or foreign vessels like containerized cargo area with cranes to unload or load the containerized vans from and to foreign vessels coming from abroad or domestic routes.

Bolastig said that is why foreign vessels bring to and unload their cargoes in either Manila, Cebu, Davao City or Cagayan de Oro City because they have a facilities like containerized cargoes area with crane to unload or load container cargoes.

The service of containerized cargo is very minimal and  unlike ports that have no containerized cargo yard, service is a little bit higher that is why businessmen make their goods a little high in rates or prices of goods.

Bolastig added that the service facilities of containerized cargo is also very fast and reliable. — Allen Abastillas
