Mitos to grace MNHS alumni homecoming PDF Print E-mail

Zambales District 1 Congresswoman Ma. Milagros “Mitos” Magsaysay will arrive today to grace the Manicahan National High School (MNHS) Alumni Homecoming 2012.
Mitos, as she is fondly called by friends and supporters, is currently the Deputy Minority Leader in Congress and has gained fame because she is outspoken fearless on her stand on issues that affect the nation.

Upon her arrival, the lady legislator will meet with local newsmen at a local hotel and will proceed immediately to MNHS as guest of honor and speaker.
Mitos will also grace the Fonda de Ayala as special guest during  the “Atty. James Enriquez Night”.

She is an awardee of Emeritus Hall of Famer for being the “Most Outstanding Congresswoman”, for six consecutive terms, silently but effectively performing her duties as a lawmaker and to her constituents as their district representative in Congress.

Mitos is a staunch advocate.of women’s rights and believes that women should be empowered to speak out and reach their full potentials.

With a predominantly male in Congress, Mitos as a veteran legislator from the first district of Zambales, has proven that she has what it takes to institute much needed reforms and inspire other women to follow her example.

She is considered as one of the top senatoriables in the 2013 mid-term elections under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) pushing for the benefits and welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs),  and open in her opposition to issues that affect the rights of the masses such as the VAT on petroleum products, and has been actively pushing to review the provisions of the Oil Deregulation Law which gives oil companies the freedom to impose increases in oil prices without government
control.

At present, Mitos is an active member in floor deliberations in the 15th Congress and has filed significant bills and resolutions.

This dynamic young solon from Zambales never easily give up. She always stands firm, immovable in her principles, and belongs to the new breed of principled politicians.
“I am not ashamed to say that I will not follow policies, especially if it is wrong. I will speak my mind but I don’t criticize for the sake of speaking out. I comment on issues and I believe that success in government is achieved by establishing a check and balance,” she said in an interview. — MLF
