OIC City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo yesterday disclosed that one of his priorities during the yuletide season is the deployment of policemen in the different department stores, churches and the only bus terminal as these places are expected to be crowded with people before and on Christmas and New Year celebrations.

De Ocampo said that aside from policemen who are assigned on the respective areas, he will also utilize men and women under the administrative department of the City Police Office for deployment in public places to assist and augment the forces from thepatrol section and other units.

De Ocampo added that he will apply the plan like what he did last December when he was the OIC City director before he was assigned to the Logistic Division of the Police Regional Office-9.

He said that a huge crowd is expected in the different churches especially during masses before Christmas and New Year and this has prompted him to deploy  policemen in those places of worship.

Aside from churches, De Ocampo said he will assign policemen in the department stores as shoppers will be busy shopping during this yuletide season.

Based on police records, pickpocketing is rampant in department stores while shoppers are busy buying gifts and Christmas items. — Dan Toribio Jr.
