A policeman was shot dead by three gunmen in Barangay Lunzuran before midnight last Friday.

The fatality was identified as SPO1 Raymond Jay Dalida y Escuadro. He was formerly assigned in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

Dalida sustained multiple bullet wounds in the body and died on the spot.

Initial investigation disclosed that Dalida was driving a green Toyota Revo when he met three persons riding on a motorcycle.near the junction of Phase 1 and 2 housing projects in Lunzuran around 10:15 p.m.

Witnesses told the police that Dalida alighted from his vehicle and figured in a heated argument with the three men.

Some witnesses told DZT that the three men shouted in Tagalog words “ibalik mo ang pera namin.”

Moments later, the three men drew their .45 caliber pistols and shot Dalida at close range.

When Dalida fell on the ground, the gunmen escaped aboard their Honda XRM motorcycle passing Phase 2 going to the interior part of Barangay Lumbangan.

Recovered at the crime scene were 12 spent shells of .45 caliber pistol.

Investigators were still trying to determine why Dalida figured in the heated argument with the killers.

Police were not discounting the possibility that the incident has something to do with the Aman pyramiding scam in Zamboanga del Sur. – Dan Toribio Jr.
