A life-size statue of one of the most revered saints, St.Francis of Assisi, was unveiled yesterday by relatives, friends and political party mates of the donor — former congressman Romeo “Nonong” Jalosjos.

The image was placed at the center of an empty pool found outside the St. Francis House in Pasonanca.

Rev. Fr. Arthur Winikoff, St. Francis House Director, led Mrs. Angelina Jalosjos, mother former Congressman Jalosjos, cousin and vice mayoralty aspirant Mercy Arquiza, Councilor Jaime Cabato and council aspirants in the first district under Jalosjos’s group Marlon Torres and Butch Blanco in unveiling and blessing of the statue.

Mrs. Arquiza said the Jalosjos family offered to put up the statue as it is their Christmas gift to St. Francis House which has been in existence for many years now. It houses hundreds of abandoned children all being taken cared by Fr. Winikoff and his staff.

“This is a wonderful project. We want to thank Mr. Jalosjos and his family for donating this for it will add attraction not only to St. Francis House but to Pasonanca Park itself. If others wish to assist us, we will welcome it,” Fr. Winikoff said.
