The Land Transportation Office will  intensify its campaign against colorum public utilities vehicles nationwide  in 2013.

LTO-9 Director Aminola P. Abaton disclosed that the campaign  against colorum PUVs is a directive from the Department of Transportation and  Communication and was reiterated by Undersecretary Virginia P. Torres during the Director’s Conference last December 10-12, 2012 in Manila.

DOTC also directed the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board to do its own campaign and law enforcement against colorum public utility vehicles.

The DOTC directive also includes the implementation of the Helmet Law nationwide next year for the safety and protection of motorcycle drivers and back riders.

LTO-9 Assistant Director  Yul Lamping was appointed head of the LTO central office’s Law Enforcement for three months next year.

Meanwhile, Abaton said the contract of Stradcom with LTO on the Information Technology Computerized Program being utilized in the documentation of licenses, motorvehicle registration and renewal will end this year.

LTO Central Office is now preparing for the bidding process on the continuity of the Information Technology Computerized Program.

In another development, Abaton disclosed that the LTO nationwide will not hold a Christmas Party in sympahty to the victims of Typhoon Pablo that killed hundreds of people and  destroyed billions of pesos worth of properties.  — Allen Abastillas
