District 2 Rep. Erbie Fabian yesterday lauded OIC City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin de Ocampo for coming up with more innovative security measures being adopted to ensure peaceful and orderly yuletide season.

Fabian said that since De Ocampo is in control of the entire local police force, it is now his call to look into additional security measures and more comprehensive plans to keep the city and the residents safe from criminals and lawless elements.

The solon believes that with De Ocampo’s capability and experience, he has all the reasons to review and enhance further the existing security measures.

“I believe in the courage and determination of De Ocampo being a Zamboangueño and a seasoned officer of the PNP, with all our support, he can make our city a peaceful place to live in,” Fabian said.

De Ocampo has ordered the strict implementation of the total gun ban policy in the city with no exemption even if they violators are PNP or AFP personnel.

He has directed his men to arrest gun ban violators if intercepted in spot and mobile checkpoints and patrols if they carry firearms not in prescribed uniforms or on non-duty status.

De Ocampo as well has strengthened ties with his counterpart in Task Force Zamboanga to support their present security efforts in the city. — Bhong Simbajon
