Government forces arrested a suspected member of the Abu Sayyaf Group at the junction of Governor Lim Avenue and Barcelona Street last Tuesday morning.

Police identified the suspect as Unjie Jammang, who is wanted for eight counts of kidnapping and serious illegal detention. He was arrested by agents of the SPOT 901, MIG9, ISAFP, RIU-9 and police intelligence unit.

Jammang was positively identified by witnesses as the man mentioned in the warrant of arrest with case numbers 3432, 3551, 3552, 3566, 3567, 3568, 3569 and 3570 and issued by Judge Leo Jay Principe, Branch 1 presiding judge of the 9th Judicial Region, of the Regional Trial Court in Isabela City dated January 28, 2008.

Jammang was detained at the MIG 9 headquarters for further investigation pending his turn-over to the court. -- Dan Toribio Jr.
