OIC-City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo is optimistic that the local police force can maintain a favorable peace and order situation during the entire yuletide season and beyond.

De Ocampo said they have concentrated on the deployment of policemen in crowded places like the different department stores, churches, the bus terminal in Guiwan and other strategic places.

Policemen in PNP uniform and plainclothes have been deployed in the city’s commercial zones,  inside department stores and right on the streets.

De Ocampo said that one of their objectives is to prevent lawless people from staging atrocities and to run after pickpockets who victimize shoppers.

Policewomen were pulled out from offices and were fielded in streets and business establishments to augment the existing field force..

Last Friday, 100 policemen from the Police Regional Office were fielded to help those from the city police office to ensure that the Christmas and New Year’s celebrations will be peaceful and unperturbed by any untoward incident.

Some of the policemen were deployed in the different intersections to help those who are regularly managing the traffic flows.

Men of the Zamboanga City Public Safety Company under Supt. William Gadayan were also assigned in their respective areas of responsibility to help bring peace in the city.
