An eight-year-old girl was killed, while her elder sister was seriously wounded after they were hacked by their uncle in at Bagwak, Tolosa at dawn last Wednesday.

The fatality was identified as Christine Elavasantos y Ramillano. Wounded was Pilar Elavasantos y Ramillano, 15. They were hacked by Crispin Barredo y Ramos, 41, cousin of their father.

Christine sustained a hack wound in the nape and died on the spot, while Pilar suffered multiple hack wounds in the body and was rushed to the hospital.

DZT gathered that Christine and Pilar were being taken cared by Barredo as their parents were doing business at the Sta. Cruz Bagsakan Center.

Around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, their grandmother Theresita Elavasantos was awaken by a commotion from the house of the two sisters. She did not mind what she heard but later discovered the sisters lying on the floor with hack wounds in their body.

Immediately, Theresita sought assistance from Florante Mendoza, a kagawad of Tolosa. They both brought Pilar to the house as Christine appeared already dead.
Initial investigation showed that it was Barredo who hacked the victims and escaped afterwards.

Police were still digging deeper into the case and checking on whether or not the two sisters were raped before they were hacked. – Dan Toribio Jr.
