LTO to implement Helmet Law on January PDF Print E-mail

The Land Transportation Office-9 will implement Republic Act 10054 otherwise known as the Helmet Law on January 2013.

LTO-9 Director Aminola P. Abaton said the intention in the full implementation of the law is the safety and protection of motorcycle drivers and their riders. It will be synchronized on January 2013 nationwide.

Abaton explained that there is no need for further information campaign because it has already intensified since July this year in all media outfits in all parts of the country.

“We started the info drive from City Peace and Order, Regional Peace and Order and Road Safety Summit. Whether it is half face, full face as long as there is an ICC certification of the Department of Trade and Industry,” Abaton said.

Abaton advised motorcycle drivers not to violate the law because the penalty for the first offense is P 1,500. Fpr second offense, the  penalty is P 3,000., third offense is P 5,000., and fourth offense is P 10,000. plus one year suspension of driver license. — Allen Abastillas
