A retired army soldier was killed while his nephew suffered injuries in a gun attack in Barangay Cabaluay last Thursday afternoon.

The fatality was identified as Tony Abalos, Sr., 55, married. He sustained multiple bullet wounds in the body and died on the spot.

DZT gathered that Abalos was riding as backrider on a Honda Wave motorcycle driven by his nephew heading for their residence around 5 p.m. when two men wearing full face helmets riding tandem on a Honda XRM motorcycle chased them and the backrider opened fire on him.bnear a blind curve.

The motorcycle that Abalos and his nephew were riding crashed on the pavement after he was hit in the body.

Abalos’ nephew miraculously survived the gun attack and only sustained injuries due to the crash while his uncle died on the spot.

The gunmen sped towards eastwar on a very high speed.

Abalos’ nephew told investigators he did not recognize the attackers as they were wearing full face helmets.

He also said that the attackers did not get the big sum of money his uncle had in his pocket.

Police were looking into several angles that led to the attack.

OIC-City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo disclosed that his men are still working on the case. —  Dan Toribio Jr.
