A member of the Moro National Liberation Front was killed while his two sons, wife and stepson escaped death in a sea gun attack off Mulu-Muluan, Mercedes last Wednesday afternoon.

Killed was Akrab Jama, a native of Tuburan, Basilan and a resident of Tictabon, Sacol Island.

Police said that Jama sustained multiplebullet wounds in the body and died on the spot.

A police report disclosed that Jama with his two sons, Arsamil Jawari, 16, and Alyasser Jawari, 25, with wife Milfaena Jawari, 19, and their son Yasmir Jawari, seven months old, were on board a pumpboat coming from Sitio Mulu-Muluan where they bought drinking water and heading for Tictabon when three men aboard another pumpboat appeared and one of them opened fire hitting Jama) in the body off Sitio Bilang-Bilang,

The gunmen sped away after the incident.

Police said the attackers shot Jama at close range as two spent shells of 5.56 caliber rifle were recovered inside the victim’s boat.

Police were still trying to determine the identities of the attackers and their motive behind the killing of Jama.— Dan Toribio Jr.
