OIC-City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo presented and discussed four major cases with newly assumed Police Regional Director Chief Supt. Juanito Vaño during the latter’s visit at the Zamboanga City Police Office last Thursday afternoon.

The presentation of the major cases was made during a conference upon the arrival of Vaño at the city police office.

Vaño mentioned the cases as the kidnapping of a school teacher from Labuan, killing of a university president, grenade attack on a businesswoman and the bus bombing in Guiwan.

Vaño also commended the city police for their quick response that resulted to the arrest of several suspects on the grenade attack that wounded at least four persons.
The police regional director disclosed that he is not  issuing ultimatum to his men to fasttrack a case investigation. All he wants is for them to dig deeper and arrest the right persons behind the crimes.

Meanwhile, De Ocampo is optimistic that the four major cases and other crimes in Zamboanga City can be resolved as they are exerting more efforts on relentless investigations and follow-up operations.

On the grenade attack, De Ocampo disclosed that it is considered solved as several persons behind it were already arrested and charged in court.

On the killing of a university president (the late Archie Eustaquio of Universidad de Zamboanga), policemen are still conducting investigation and gathering more information that may lead to the arrest of the gunmen as well the mastermind.

The kidnapping of school teacher Flordeliza Ongchua and the bus bombing in Guiwan are also among the priority cases being tackled by the police.

The police, during the first term of De Ocampo as OIC City Police Director, solved several major cases and put to jail the perpetrators.
