The Dipolog City Bureau of Fire Protection’s (BFP) firefighting capability was recently upgraded as a generous Dipolognon family, now residing in the United States donated fire suits to the city government.

The couple Matias Neil and Maila Velasco donated 48 sets of fire suits composed of jumper, helmets and jackets which were turned over to the city government thru Matias’ brother Councilor Horacio Velasco.

In a simple turn-over ceremony held at the Mayor’s Conference Room on December 30, 2012, Velasco, representing his brother, personally handed the firefighting materials to Mayor Evelyn Uy,

Recognizing its importance to the firefighting capability of the BFP, Uy expressed his gratitude to the Velasco Family for the sincerity and generosity. She said the fire suits, which will augment the present capabilities of the city’s firefighters, will be turned over to the BFP headed by Fire Senior Inspector Richard Timosa. — PIA
