Cebu Pacific, which has the largest fleet of commercial aircraft, dominates the domestic air services, serving the people nationwide while having flights to Southeast Asia countries, including Japan and South Korea.

On the other hand, Philippines Air Lines continues its air services to Davao City, serving Region 11 and its neighboiring cities and provinces with its  state-of-the-art aircraft Boeing 747 that has business class and economy accommodation. PAL stopped its regular flights to Zamboanga City and other local destinations last year as a business decision that management undertook to compete with Cebu Pacific in the domestic air services. Its sister airlines, Airphil Express, took its place.

Observers however said that PAL has continued its air services to Northern and Southern Mindanao because of good facilities like terminals where passengers can enjoy the quality of services.

The airport terminal in Davao City is world class. It has VIP rooms, airconditioned and equipped with several cable TVs from which passengers waiting for their flights can watch their favorite programs on sports, movies, travel and others.

Davao City’s taxi drivers help promote tourism in that region. They are courteous, respectful, neat and clean. They don’t overcharge their passengers unlike many tricycle drivers. — Allen Abastillas
